Belinda’s Story Part Two

It is becoming a hard time having her mother lay down on a sickbed for months, all efforts are yielding no result its almost like all hope is lost but they keep on trying.

Belinda’s dad had given all he has and sold some of his properties to ensure the revival of his wife, but unfortunately, after all, they lost her to diabetes.

Belinda’s exam is fast approaching, she will for the first time be sitting for the West African Examination Council (WAEC) to obtain her O’level certificate.

This actually requires money and time, the money is no longer there and the memories of her late mother, refuses to leave her mind, she’s often soaked with tears and would say “mum I miss you!”

It became very hard for the dad to raise fund for her exams, and fortunately for her, the school management who are aware of her story decided to help her with a scholarship.

She sat for the exams, made parallel “A” and was waiting to gain admission into the higher institution of her choice.

Since it was difficult for her dad to pay for her exams, who’s actually the one to sponsor her in the university?

The dad would love to do so over and over again but unfortunately, he’s now a poor man who lives in agony of losing a loved one after all efforts put in place including the children he had lost in the past.

However, the people he was supposed to get a loan from, he still owed them for the loan they gave him when the wife was sick.

He had since lost his job as a railway worker – the cooperation is no longer in active operation in the country, the workers are starving and getting their fingers hurt before they could have a meal, they have always engaged in tedious jobs like breaking stones and firewoods just to make ends meet, regardless of their age.

What will determine the fate of Belinda since all hope is lost, how will she further her studies to become a sculptor tomorrow? You can imagine the hope of this common child who’s at the verge of dropping out of school.

If she had financially buoyant uncles, at least she would have asked them to loan her money, the worst of it is that there her uncle is even dependent on the dad for financial assistance.

Belinda and her father was lost in deciding what will be a proven solution to their problems and how she will achieve her goals in life.

They’re so many thoughts coming to the minds of Belinda and her dad with several persons wanting her hands in marriage and promising to help her complete her education.

Belinda’s dad is never happy whenever he thinks of letting his daughter get married at this age due to lack of money, but it seemed he has nothing else to hold on. He was left with the mind to pray she doesn’t get into the wrong hand all in the name of getting married to be sponsored in school.

He’s already giving in and intends to tell Belinda to consider the offer as a helpful one, but he’s ashamed of himself and believed she won’t accept his recommendations to getting married at a tender age.

Will Belinda accept the marriage proposal or not? Find out in the next episode.
