Crying out through many newspapers and political platforms how the majority of American holidays are centered on male achievements, she received financial support to host the first-ever Mother’s Day celebration in the year 1908.

In 1912 it began to gain momentum as many churches and towns observe Mother’s Day as an annual holiday. Her dream finally came through when President Woodrow Wilson officially approved the second Sunday of May to be the official date for Mother’s Day celebration.
